9/5/19 Newsletter

Hi Comrades!

Here's your weekly dose of 5 Wisdom Nuggets, a list of what I'm enjoying and finding interesting or useful.

Song of the week:
Arcade Fire - Reflektor I love Arcade Fire, and in my opinion this is one of their best and dynamic songs ever. Plus, David Bowie makes an appearance in the song just a couple of short years before he died.

Quote I love:
"So often times it happens, that we live our lives in chains and we never even know we have the key" - From the song Already Gone by the Eagles.

One of my all-time favorite books:
The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck - by Mark Manson. I absolutely love this book. It will almost undoubtedly change your opinion on some topics that our culture deems conventional wisdom, or at the very least helps you see the other side of the coin so you can decide what's best for you. It’s probably the most refreshing read I’ve picked up in a long time, mostly because Mark has such a unique perspective on things and is completely unapologetic for it - f*ck yeah!

Amazing up and coming photographer on Instagram:
This image literally gives me the chills. This image was taken by Chris Parkes while he was traveling in Sierra Leone and stumbled across a group of bad ass soccer players who had been injured by rebel fighting in their country. Follow the link for the full story, it's incredibly humbling. I actually had Chris on the podcast last year, if you’re interested in that here it is.

Podcast nugget of the week:
David Goggins on the Rich Roll Podcast. This podcast episode will give you a swift kick in the pants, no doubt. Often referred to as the toughest athlete on the planet, David Goggins (@davidgoggins) is the only member of the US Armed Forces to complete SEAL training (including THREE Hell Weeks), the U.S. Army Ranger School (where he graduated as Enlisted Honor Man) and Air Force tactical air controller training. He also broke a world record for most pullups in a 24 hour period (4,030)! Rich also did a follow up episode with David on New Years Day in 2019, you can find that sequel here.

Alright that's it for this week, thanks for reading.

Have a wonderful weekend, all!
